Matthew Brown is a United States Marine Corps veteran.
Honorable service connected medical discharge from the U.S.M.C. in the mid-70s is how I got started on what was originally planned to be a long military career. It has been difficult building another career or simply maintaining a steady job. Over the years, it feels like I am still planning with hopes this time I will hit my intended mark.
A constant has always been art. Whether it was performing, drawing, painting, computer graphics or photography, I seem to find a place in the arts. I am mostly self taught. My photographic subjects are varied from people to places to objects or just about anything that captures my imagination. I prefer working with human subjects. I receive the most desirable responses on my bodyscapes, silhouettes and figure studies.
This fine art area is rewarding because it gives me the opportunity to create intriguing imagery of the human form while also empowering the subject to see her own beauty. How and where light meets shadow. What is seen, imagined or inferred. I can make statements where question marks might fill viewer’s gaze. I can share moments of beauty and artistry.
