David Carpenter is a Veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a Boatswains Mate about the U.S.S. Frederick LST 1184. At 44 years of age David was diagnosed with PTSD and Schizophrenia and is now a Disabled Veteran.
At first art was a form of therapy, and I did not realize until years later that is what I was doing with art at the time. However art soon became a passion. I always thought someone had to tap you on the shoulder with a wand and say you are an artist. I have found that is not the case and now I am making up for lost time not only painting, but also doing Activist Artwork.
David went onto create a mural over 50 feet long and twelve feel high full of bully stories. After that he went on to write a play “Anytown”.
A lot of people do not really understand Schizophrenia, I do, I had no choice, I was born with it. And that is ok, in its own unique way it has been a blessing of sorts throughout my life, and it has had a major impact throughout my journey as an artist. My soul, where my art is born is like a farm, and from this I harvest thoughts, emotions and life experiences, which I then turn them into paintings, murals and plays. So, thank you for stopping by, and welcome to my farm.
