Buggsy Malone

Buggsy Malone was born in Macon, Georgia and raised in many different countries by his father, a civilian contractor for the U.S. Air Force. From kindergarten in Thailand to graduating high school in Europe, traveling was second nature and joining the military was an easy call when college life became more entertainment than education. Buggsy served for just over 13 years, first in the Army and then in the Marine Corps. As a marine, he fought in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, an action which changed his life forever. After the war, art became a necessity in his daily life. Without art, he becomes one of the twenty-two. With art, he is a Warrior with a voice and the spirit to help other veterans through their own struggles.

My art is at the center-most part of me and enables balance, offering a statement to be absorbed. From the graphic to the abstract, each piece is a work of love through which I evoke thoughts and memories that the onlooker can connect to and personally identify with. As a thirteen-year U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, I have been scarred from overexposure to violent conditions, despair and hopelessness that have become a part of who I am. There are pieces of me I do not remember, parts I do not know, and sections that are buried deep within my subconscious. It is only through my art and lifted awareness that I am able to access these parts of my being to begin to put the pieces back together. My journey as an artist is therapeutic for me on many levels and feel it should be prescribed more as an effective medicine for the wounded. My art is my love, my life, and my passionate expression. One Love Works. Try it!
