Angie Blevins

I am originally from Nebraska, following High School, I attended a 2 year graphic art school, then decided to join the U.S.Navy. During my five year enlistment I became an Illustrator Draftsman (DM3), and upon release I relocated to Maine. I was missing the comradery of people, I joined the Maine Army National Guard, becoming an illustrator. In 1990 I went to Desert Storm, returned in 1991. In the civilian world I was a drafter for an engineering firm, while continuing to drill with a Guard Unit. Inn 1996, I became an active duty Soldier in the Maine National Guard Counterdrug program and a photojournalist on drill weekends retiring in 2010.

Throughout my military career, I have created art. During my Navy years I painted murals of A-4 Jets landing on aircraft carriers in Texas and created slides for a multi -military intelligence school in Virginia. During Desert Storm, I served in the Army National Guard, I created presentations for daily briefings. And most recently, I drew the eight fallen Soldier’s portraits, these are located at Camp Keyes, Augusta Maine.

Following my military retirement, I became a full time artist. I am very enthusiastic about the variety of wooded and water areas of Maine. I enjoy drawing in ink, but also add watercolor to bring a dimension into the piece. Some times, though, I really enjoy creating a variety of pieces- from detailed ink trees to an oil abstract with bright colors on a large canvas.

You may find my ink drawings at Little Pond Gallery, Orrs Island, Maine. I am also available for any type of commissioned work.
